Couple Rip Off 80 Year Old Unsuspecting Auntie

Dauphin County, Pennsylvania

Police have charged a couple in what is being called the "biggest case of senior exploitation" in Dauphin County's history.

The couple was arrested in the theft of more than $200,000 from their 80-year-old aunt's bank account, according to a press release issued by county officials yesterday.

The aunt, a Middletown widow who was not identified, received $300,000 in a lump-sum insurance settlement from a car accident, the release stated.

Additional details of the case are not being released until a news conference at 10 a.m. today in the second-floor conference room of the Dauphin County Administration Building, 2 S. Second St., Harrisburg, officials said.

"County officials believe that this arrest involved the biggest case of financial exploitation of a senior citizen ever in Dauphin County," according to the statement.

The investigation was conducted by the county Criminal Investigation Division, the county Elder Abuse Task Force with the leadership of District Attorney Edward M. Marsico Jr. and Assistant District Attorney Mike Rozman.

To date, the Elder Abuse Task Force has arrested a construction contractor, a plumbing contractor and three in-home caregivers who bilked several seniors out of tens of thousands of dollars, according to officials.
