Are Guardians Accountable?

Like any profession, there are good ones and bad ones. We currently have a judge that is requiring bonds, even of professional guardians, which caused some hard feelings but maybe it is not such a bad idea.
The job of guardian is not to lock our wards up in ALFs and nursing homes and then forget them. Apparently this is happening in all too many cases. Sure, it is easier for the guardian but the job of the guardian is not to be warden.
There is a nursing home ombudsman to whom you can complain about nursing home issues. And you can also request a court monitor or an accounting of the guardianship file (or both) if you suspect problems.
