Letters To Editor, Please Wake Up !

by Brenda Durant write me: durant_b@msn.com

Dear neighbor,

Please read the news articles (Link here, and here) about the Texas couple. Disgracefully they are not the only ones who have found that one of the largest challenges we face is"finding a safe place in which to grow old". This couple appears to have some assistance, due to media coverage.

Senator Nelson, Senator Kip Averitt, Representative Keffer, and others should be well aware of other cases where elderly citizens have been robbed of their property and their rights through guardianship. I and others have made many phone calls to her and other legislatures offices. All we have to do to verify awareness is to review the last Texas legislative session of the jurisprudence.

Years after the legislatures professed disgust of what was happened in guardianship probate court (Denton County), the same Judge continued to sit on the bench and it appears, has continued to allow and assist in more of the horrible crimes against citizens. Victims are denied justice, as judges are immune. It is clear that a simple reprimand from the Judicial Commission is not enough to deter such crimes.

Media coverage and public awareness is a valuable tool; but, too few get media attention. While it appears that the Mr. and Mrs. Kidd may gain their freedom, you may bet that it will cost them dearly, as they must pay all the legal fees to gain freedom. It is rare that freedom is gained by the termination of a guardianship. When they do get reversed, the victims are financially ruined, as every lawyer gets paid from their assets.

Please forward this email to awaken others. We must all write our legislatures and tell them that much must change to protect our rights and our property from the travesties which are happening through the the guardianship proceedings. Don't think that this can't happen to you or your neighbor. It has happened in Hood County and other counties through out Texas.

Together, we will make a difference.
Most determined to see an end to the "disgraces in care and protection",
Brenda A. Durant (Mother's Advocate)

THE DENTON COUNTY JUDGE AND ALL OF HIS FRIEND HAVE CONTINUED TO ABUSE THE ELDERLY AND THEIR FAMILIES. IT IS A NIGHTMARE THAT STILL CONTINUES TO HAUNT MY FAMILY ALTHOUGH MY IN-LAWS HAVE PASSED AWAY. I WILL NOT AND AM NOT STOPPING UNTILL THESE EVIL PEOPLE ARE NOT IN THE POSITION TO ABUSE, USING THEIR POWER AND BUDDIES.

I have called, and emailed Senator Jane Nelson's office several times since SPRING OF 2006. I recently spoke with someone who said that they still have my "FILE" from the first time I called, but that their office could not do anything, because "YOUR CASE WAS IN COURT, AND OUR OFFICE CAN NOT ENTERFERE WITH A COURT CASE, ALREADY IN PROCESS". Now they are going to send it to a case worker, and see what "POLICIES, MIGHT NEED CHANGING, OR IF SOMETHING ELSE CAN BE DONE".

OH BUT THEY CAN NOT CHANGE THE OUTCOME OF A CASE.
